This month, we’d like you to meet Leah Tufts – Bellwyck Pharma Services’ Vice President of U.S. Operations. Leah has been a part of Bellwyck’s team for five years and has been working in the clinical packaging industry for over a decade.
Within those five years, Leah has been essential in Bellwyck Pharma Services’ success. Her accomplishments include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting the opening of Bellwyck Pharma Services’ U.S. depot and Bellwyck-Faller’s EU Depot
- Globalized Operations and Quality procedures amongst clinical sites
- Obtained DEA licenses and successfully hosted licensing audit for importation of controlled substances
We sat down with Leah to discuss her experience in the clinical packaging field. Here’s what Leah had to say:
What does a typical day look like for you and what are you currently working on?
A typical day includes “coordinating with team leads to ensure all client and study requirements are met for the day, including addressing customer inquiries and requirements.”
Leah went on to explain that she’s currently working on “designing the buildout of the new warehouse expansion to best fit our growing needs, and rolling out clinical operations to the Bellwyck-Faller EU Depot.”
What is your favourite part of the day?
The morning. I like coming in, seeing what we have to accomplish, rallying the team, and coaching our employees to meet demand.
What do you like most about working in the clinical packaging industry?
The flexibility within the regulations that allow us to be ‘creatively compliant’.
What do you find most challenging about working in the clinical packaging industry?
It can be challenging when balancing client requirements with our internal procedures to ensure we hit timelines and meet regulatory requirements.
What is the best advice you were ever given (work, life, success related)?
My mom used to tell us, “Sometimes it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it.” I use this everyday.
